The Chef

Nan Niyomkul
A highly acclaimed, award-winning chef and restaurateur, Chef Nan Niyomkul pioneered Thai fine dining in Atlanta. Born in Bangkok, she learned to cook from her mother, a local street-food vendor, before moving to New York at the age of 19 to refine her craft in the city's finest establishments.
Alongside her late husband, Charlie Niyomkul, she built a celebrated culinary footprint under The Tamarind Restaurant Group, today run in tandem with her daughter, Chef DeeDee Niyomkul.
Her kitchens seamlessly blend authentic provincial Thai flavours with modern refinement, from slow-braised Lamb Hung Lay to seasonal favourites like fresh mango with sticky rice, putting a uniquely warm and prestigious touch on Thai cuisine, worldwide.
A Historic First
Chef Nan made history as the first female chef ever to prepare the Champions Dinner at The Masters golf tournament, a legendary meal for champion Vijay Singh that was later ranked #1 by Sports Illustrated. A testament to a career spent earning the trust of the world's most discerning tables.
